George Thomas
Brophy Jr. was the Sales Manager at Franklin
Paint Company from 1993 until 2008. He was
born in Boston on August 14, 1940. He was
brother to his older sister Mary and younger
sisters Elaine and Joan. He graduated
English High School in 1959 and attended
Providence College. He met Lorraine Thompson
on a New Year’s Eve blind date in 1961, they
married in January 1964. George was an
active member of the US Navy from 1963-1965.
George spent
nine years through rain and shine with the
US Postal Service. He started his career in
traffic safety with own business in the
early seventies. He enjoyed a long career in
highway safety, maintenance and sales. His
charm and charisma endeared him to all who
encountered him in business and pleasure.
George, aka
Georgie, Red (when he had hair), Curly and
Baldy (when he didn’t), Gorgeous George,
Gentleman George, Dad and most recently,
Papa G, was a Dedham resident for 44 years.
He enjoyed traveling with Lulu, playing
golf, and bowling. He appreciated good food,
good friends and good times, and dancing to
ole' time rock & roll!
George was a
family man, whose bravery and courage
inspired all. He leaves to cherish his
memory and celebrate his life: his wife of
45 years, Lorraine Brophy, his children,
Jeanne Brophy, Kathleen Graham, Michael
Brophy and Matthew Brophy, son-in-law Kevin
Graham, daughter-in-law Andrea Schrader and
his dearest granddaughter, Leah Graham, as
well as a host of family and friends who
enjoyed his charm and his love of life. |
